News: Pahang Gov’t To Approve More Land For Makmur Housing Project

Nov 28, 2019

The Pahang government will approve additional land for the Makmur Housing Project to allow the state’s low-income earners to own homes, reported Bernama.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said the initiative was part of fulfilling the government’s duty of providing infrastructure and basic needs. This includes housing, which is among the people’s primary needs.

“The Makmur project is aimed at ensuring they can own homes. The price at RM80,000 a unit is very cheap and the condition is that the applicant does not have a home yet,” he said.

“The state government does not profit, in fact it loses revenue because the developers do not have to pay land premium. We are doing this for the well-being of the people.”

The project, developed by Zon Majuria Sdn Bhd, sits on land measuring 40.4 ha (4,348,620 sq ft) and currently has 635 units measuring 800 sq ft each. Its first phase of 100 units is projected to be finished by 2022.

Wan Rosdy said that the project has already received 1,700 applications and added that those unable to buy a home under the project can try at a later date as there would be other similar schemes in the near future.
